Mated Queens

Queen Bees

At Bee Greedy our queen bees have been newly mated and raised within our apiaries. They have been carefully bred from our Rottnest queen mother and breeding stock chosen for various characteristics, including their docile and calm nature, hygienic behaviours and high honey production. We ensure our apiary sites are well populated with our drone bees to ensure a well mated queen bee.

As a queen bee becomes less productive within a hive and is laying fewer eggs, it can result in a weaker colony making it vulnerable to pests and diseases. This is why the replacement of a queen bee can be a key factor in maintaining a strong, healthy, calm and productive hive.
